Spring Blush

Hello Beasts!!

I know it has been a very long long time since I have made an official post on the blog. Where have I Been? Well; since the last post I worked on a super amazing project with Puertorrican designers, went to New York Fashion Week, had a crush on a guy, got a promotion at work, got selected by a top Dominican magazine to be part of an article on personal style, and kinda lost my muse for writing along the way. In other words, I had too much on my plate.

Although I have stayed in touch with you on social media, I feel like you guys need or actually I need to get back on the writing pony and give you some Fashion Loving. So since, its that time of the year where some fall in, some fall out of love, and others just try avoiding the whole subject and decide to drown themselves in delicious cocktails, champagne and sweets, I have put together a little outfit inspired in one of my new favorite color ¨Blush Pink¨.

I recently found this amazing and perfect hued Blush pleated midi-skirt at Torrid, and like always I accepted the challenge of making a pleated light color skirt look good on my size 16/18 curvalicious body.

If I can do it so can you!!

I´m so happy to be back, and very excited for what I have in stored for you guys. So stay tuned for more outfit inspiration, shopping guides and some cool surprises. Thanks for reading and for showing me so much love. Happy Valentines Day!!!

Stay fabulous!

Summer pastels

Pastels are perfectly transitioning into our summer wardrobe. Weather you wear them as an accent color  or mix and match them, they always bring some freshness and softness to an outfit. We have been seeing them everywhere, from Forever21, Zara and ASOS to BCBG, Marc Jacobs and Céline , which means there are many fashionable options for every size and budget.

This is  perfect example for a beach or pool day outfit, featuring pastel pieces. To give it a more tropical feel try to mix in a floral that match the color way of the solid pieces you use for the outfit. You can NEVER go wrong with a high waist number, since it hides the problem areas that must girls thin or curvy, like to hide, and accentuates the areas we love to show. If you don´t feel comfortable wearing a two piece just find a one piece that meet the characteristics, a plain pastel colored one or a floral would be awesome too with this outfit. And if you are on the smaller side and afraid all that fabric will swallow you up, well you can wear a a smaller bottom, to show your petite figure.

Hope you have a blast this weekend!
until next time!

Ootd : minimal matchy-match

Tangerine is one of the go to colors for this season, and it's not as hard as it looks to combine with other colors. In this case we paired with a floral print pump, and pulled some of the royal blue in the shoe to match with the bag. This way you an play with the colors without looking like a rainbow . Alas you may have noticed by now , this silhouette is our go to , whenever we feel like going for the modern retro look.

One little tip for finding the right Skater or pleated skirt if you have a big bum, buy the size that looks better on the bum part and go get the waist tailored to your size, this will keep the pleads in shape in the back part and you wont feel like you have the biggest But in the world.

Have fun with colors this upcoming season, and remember to always look or styles that are cut to flatter your figure, this will make you want to  keep breaking the stupid rules we were all brought up with.

Have. Great time!

Outfit of the day : hello Friday!

Its Friday and I can´t wait to finally be able to go out on the town with my friends tonight. For a night out I usually try everything on just before I go out, but recently I have been trying to plan ahead my outfits if I know I´m not going to have too much time to get ready. I bought this beautiful lamé, embroidered skirt from Forever21, for a New Years party I never went to and have only worn it once to a birthday party. So Today I decided to give it a go and pair it with a black bodysuit also from  Forever21 , a pair of black booties from Torrid, and my beloved tortoise shell inspired sunnies I found a thrift shop in NYC.

Hope you have a great night and weekend!

Outfit Of The day : Cut out and the Caftan

I finally got my hands on this dress from Forever21, that I had been crushing on, since we featured it in one of our Weekly Finds Post. Its is the perfect plum tone and has a great fit, but be ware, it runs a size smaller than what I usually wear. I´m obsessed with the little cut out it has on the waist, and the cool way they mad the straps go from center front to the back. To give the outfit a cool bohemian feel and a little dimension I added an ethnic print caftan also from Forever21 , which I could not resist to buy.

As you might know by now, I love to buy pieces that I can take from day to night easily, because I believe in multifunctional wardrobes, specially when like me you are not a size 6 and plus size clothes are usually more expensive. Caftans are a must have piece for summertime, you can wear them over your bathing suit at the beach or like I wore it today, paired with a skater dress and a pair of booties fom Torrid. I finished off the look with vintage brocade hoop earings and a pair of Bottega Veneta round cat eye sunnies. However you choose to Rock this look always remember  to pick pieces that complement your figure.

Until Next time!!

Monday Mix : stripes, dots and metallics. Oh My!

Let's begin this week with a little mix of textures,. It's a fun way to pump up your Monday meetings and repel the Monday blues (or at least look like you are repelling it) This skater dress is perfect on every body type and black and white stripes are everywhere this season. Mix the stripes with a ethnic inspired scrappy sandal and pull the look together with a great bag in a solid bright complementary color. And of coarse, don't forget a cool pair of cateye sunniest with metallic details. Who says you have to do the matchy matchy thing to be a powerful business woman? Not us!

Summer blocking

The color block trend is here to stay and what better time to put it into practice than these transitional spring/winter to summer days. Mix bold solid colors for a tropical feel. Tangerine is one of our top five colors for this summer and it is flattering on almost all skin types. Give it a try,  Who knows, maybe you'll get a little early summer loving situation going.

Outfit of the day : Neon Loving

<a href="http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/12171755/?claim=cnb6ptew369">Follow my blog with Bloglovin</a>

A few months ago,  I found this amazing neon coral dress, in a neoprene like fabric, on one of my many shopping trips to Forever 21. I had it in my closet for a while,  because even though I loved it, I had lightened may hair, and some of the pieces I had looked a little off, with my new Rose Gold Hair color. So against all odds I decided to do this OOTD (outfit of the day) and I love the Finished product.

For this look I decided to pair it with one of my favorite oversize denim jackets, also from  Forever 21It gives the outfit a little texture, plus I love to wear layers with dresses ! It's a cool way to dress them down, without the outfit looking too simple.

To finish off the look, I added a pair of wedge sneakers, with leopard print details, also from Forever 21 my beloved Céline sunnies, and heart shaped gold hoop earrings.

Like we always say in our blog, accessorizing the right way will take your outfits to the next level. Always remember to look for statement pieces or pieces that speak for themselves, and represent your style. This summer will be all about bold colors and metallic, so I think its time to get into the groove and start rocking this trend, even if you live where it is still 35 degrees.

until next time!

Monday Mix: I dream of Friday

It's Monday again, but there is no better motivation to get through than thinking about what your going to wear for Friday after work happy hour. And if you want to start the week with energy, why don't you rock your Friday outfit today. We wanted to start this week with color, so we created this blazer and skirt combination. Who says you have to be all matcy- matchy  to look professional? Office attire doesn't,have to be boring.  Digital prints are super trendy right now and they are a great option for work wear. Pair them with a solid color blazer and a white Cami or basic blouse, to play down the eclectic print, without overpowering the outfit.  For a final touch add some metallic accessories, preferably in gold tones  and take your work wear to the next level.

Monday Mix : beach wedding edition

It's all about the white and blue florals. The monochrome print allows you to look fresh and elegant. Add some pops of colors with vintage inspired accessories and a bold lip. Break the rules and get a neon mani pedi.  To tie everything together pull your hair up, in a braided bun, or a sleek ballerina bun, it will look great even when humidity attacks and tries to sabotage the evening.

Weekly Finds : If the shoe Fits..

When you Large and/or wide feet, finding cool trendy shoes in your size is a sad unpredictable journey. Sample sizes not only exist in clothing, Shoes are also made with specific measurements. This is why its so hard to find a Size 10 that really fits like a 10, not like a 9.5. As absurd as it sounds there are girls out in the world that feel like its impossible to find girlie and cute shoes in large sizes, and end up wearing sneakers and old lady shoes everywhere . But not to worry, the wait for cool shoes in larger sizes has come to an end. Today, Many brands and online retailers have started to offer a wider range of stylish options in larger sizes. So inspired by my own life long quest for cool shoes in a size 10 / 10.5, we decided to dedicate our weekly finds to Footwear.

We went to one of my favorite retailers Torrid, they carry shoes from size eight to a size twelve, and most of their styles come in wide or medium with. The best part of Torrid is that they carry very cute product, that fits comfortably. We could not decide on only four to show you so, we decided to post our favorites from their spring collection.

Sneakers

Studded High-Top Sneaker

Leopard Slip-on Sneaker

These two styles are perfect for casual spring outfits. The all-white studded High-tops are great to pair with slinky flower print skater dress or with what we have named the LTJ (Leggings, T-shirt, and Jacket) combination. The Leopard print sip-ons give a cool pop to any outfit. I love to wear mine with a great pair of harem pants, its the perfect way to pull together an mix-match outfit.

Booties

Cutout Buckle Booties

Suede Buckle Booties
Stacked Heel Bootie
Stacked Heel Bootie
Our obsession with this of type bootie has been going on since Fall. You can be comfy and stylish at the same time, with any of these styles, without compromising the protection of your feet against the cold temperatures. Plus they are awesome transitional pieces to wear between seasons.

 Sandals
Buckle Leather Sandal
Buckle Leather Sandal

Strappy Espadrille Wedge Sandals

Cutout Slingback
Weather you like them strappy, with a platform, with a sling back, with a small heel, or with buckles, these styles are a must have for the Spring/Summer season.

Torrid is only one of many retailers that offer a broader size selection. Brands like, Steve Madden, Top Shop, Jeffrey CampbellMichael Kors and Aldo, are offering super cool product up to size 12. There are many more, so we suggest you search online and do not be afraid to ask about the items you see online and like.

Hope you have a great time shopping!!
Until next time!

Monday Mix

Mix prints and metallic for a fresh spring look. Stripes and florals are two of our favorite prints to mix. If you fin it too difficult to color coordinate, two prints,  just focus on the accent colors. In this example we use yellow to tie everything in. When wearing a horizontal stripe, always look for pieces that accentuate the waist, this will pull in the focus to the smallest part of your body, and away from your problem areas. To add a little more spunk to the outfit, slap on some bright pink matte lip and royal blue nails. The bright matte lip gives you a fresh and clean pop, and the royal blue Nails are a very big trend for the hotter seasons. Last but not least, accessorize, accessorize, accessorize. The right accessories can make or break an outfit. For this example we chose retro inspired yellow gold bangles, earrings, watch and a pair of semi round sunnies.

We hope you have a blast trying and hunting for the perfect pieces to pull off this look. You know we always encourage you to have fun in the process. After all, fashion is supposed to be fun, even if you have lived your whole life thinking it is not.

Weekly Finds : Transition to Spring

Hello Beautiful Beast!!
This week we where feeling easy and breezy, so we decided to do this Week´s Finds on Transitional pieces, for spring. For this time of the year the easiest way to start walking away from the winter blues is to incorporate color into your wardrobe. You should also look for fun silhouettes that you can wear with layering pieces for what is left of winter and rock later when the cold is gone. So we went to one of our forever favorite go to places Old Navy, and found super cute and affordable Spring time dresses and layering pieces for you to see.

These are our picks for this week:

Lime Maxi Dress
This maxi dress is a great piece to transition from Spring to summer time, because of its color. Lime yellow is still very on trend this season and it looks awesome with an edgy black leather jacket or a basic denim Jacket.

Shirt Dress

Combining a Basic piece like a button down shirt dress, with a Printed layering piece, is the best way to bring a little spunk to a very basic piece. This military inspired jacket is also a must have piece for spring, it brings structure to the outfit, without it looking too serious.

Fit and Flare dresses are one of our top 5 favorite pieces EVER. This silhouette hides the most common problem areas and accentuates the waist, making you look more proportioned.

Chambray Shirt Dress
Chambray is here to stay and everyone should have at least one Chambray piece in their closets. We loved this shirt dress because of it´s versatility, for the transitional days, where its not hot but its not freezing cold. You can add a pair of leggings under it and a leather jacket for the colder days and wear it with sandals and an orange lip for the warmer days.

So now its time for you to get started on your transitional wardrobe makeover. Always remember to try on things, and look for shapes that are flattering to your body type. We always encourage you to step out of your comfort zone, by adding pieces that you would´t normally wear. Weather it is wearing a bright lip color or a funky high heel, Fashion is supposed to be FUN not torture.

Stay tuned for more posts this week.
Until next time
